Carbon Brief reported that the committee said Heathrow expansion could push flights to as much as 80% of UK emissions by 2050.
The recommendations place the cost of aviation's climate impact on passengers and carriers rather than on public funds. Under the advisers' position, airlines would need to pay for measures that reduce the environmental damage caused by flying.
