U.S. President Donald Trump announced on social media on Thursday that he has appointed conservative commentator Katie Zacharia as White House press secretary, succeeding Karoline Leavitt, who is leaving the role. The announcement was reported by 第一财经, citing CCTV News.
According to 第一财经, Trump described Zacharia as currently serving as a senior communications adviser at Truth Social, the platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group. He said she has performed well in that position.
Trump also stated that Zacharia had helped him win campaigns in key battleground states, according to the report.
The announcement marks a change at the top of the White House communications operation. Leavitt's departure and Zacharia's appointment were made public through Trump's own social media post rather than a formal press briefing.
Further details on the timing of the transition, Zacharia's start date, or Leavitt's next role were not included in the reporting.
What to watch next: whether the White House provides additional details on when the handover takes effect and how the press office's operations will change under Zacharia.
