The camp has drawn heavy pressure in recent days. Ismael Derdabi, the SUP's spokesperson in Ceuta, told cope.es that the situation "has gotten out of hand," saying more than 5,000 people are now in the settlements and that the camp has become saturated as people try to enter. RTVE.es reports that hundreds of migrants are still staying on the Trampolín beach despite efforts to move them to the port.
The Audiencia Nacional's request for the government's records signals that judges intend to scrutinize how the camp was set up and run. The court has not yet ruled on the substance of the union's challenge.
