Kylian Mbappé will not leave Real Madrid unless something close to a catastrophe forces it, according to a panel discussion on DAZN's "Trending" program, which addressed rumors of a possible future move to Liverpool. The segment, reported by DAZN on Friday, treated the speculation as having no real weight at present.

The rumor itself did not originate with the player. According to DAZN, it surfaced as talk of a potential Liverpool transfer at some point down the line. Mbappé came close to signing with the English club back in 2018, and DAZN notes he has said his mother dreams of him playing there.

Why it matters

Mbappé is the most discussed footballer in the game right now, and much of the attention around him has shifted away from the pitch — his comings and goings, José Mourinho's public defense of him, and stories about his vacations.

That makes any hint of a departure from Madrid a live topic, even when the hint is thin. DAZN's panel pushed back hard on the idea, arguing that a transfer of this size would not hinge on a single rumor or a single party's wishes.

The 'cataclysm' argument

Pepe Brasín, a contributor on the show, framed Mbappé less as a footballer than as a major economic asset. In his view, per DAZN, the only way Mbappé leaves Real Madrid is if a cataclysm occurs.

Brasín said a departure is not on the table right now, and added that he does not know what the future holds. For him, the decisive factor would be both Madrid and Mbappé wanting to part ways — not a one-sided decision — and he judged the current rumor to carry no significance.

DAZN reported that the rumor was firmly rejected during the broadcast.

Mourinho pushes back on the noise

The exit talk is not the only Mbappé story drawing attention. Mourinho has spoken out about the coverage surrounding the player, and his remarks have been picked up across Spanish media.

According to MARCA, Mourinho described all the topics being raised about Mbappé as "ridiculous."

Cadena SER reported Mourinho's response to a controversy involving the player, in which he compared the fuss to someone riding a bike around a hotel being treated as though they were racing the Tour de Suisse. The reference was to the Vuelta a Suiza, a Swiss stage race.

El Mundo reported Mourinho turning on the press directly, saying that if Mbappé is whistled, it will be a victory for the journalists, and that they have gone looking for problems. He called the situation ridiculous.

The contract question

Separately, Mundo Deportivo reported on the sanction Mbappé would face if he were to break his contract with Real Madrid — a reminder of the contractual weight behind any exit scenario.

Taken together, the coverage points in one direction: the speculation is being treated as noise rather than a live negotiation. DAZN's panel did not dispute that Mbappé's future could change, only that nothing currently supports the idea of a move.

What to watch is whether Madrid or Mbappé signal anything concrete. Until then, the only thing on the record is a rumor, a firm denial, and a manager who wants the conversation to stop.
