A 27-year-old man was seriously wounded in a shooting in central Rotterdam during the night of Halloween, according to Dutch media reports. The incident happened on the Karel Doormanstraat, a street in the city centre, and police confirmed they were called out to a shooting there.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance with severe injuries, Rijnmond and AD.nl report. Two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting, according to De Gooi- en Eemlander.
De Telegraaf reports that blood was visible on the street after the shooting and that people out for the night, along with Halloween revellers, were left shaken by what happened.
The reports do not say what led to the shooting, whether the victim and the suspects knew each other, or what condition the man is now in. Police have not given further details in the material available.
The Karel Doormanstraat sits in Rotterdam's busy nightlife district, and the timing meant the area was crowded with people marking Halloween when the shooting took place.
What to watch next: police statements on the investigation and any update on the wounded man's condition.
