Helicopter Crashes in Rural Passos Area, Five Injured

A helicopter carrying five people crashed in a rural area of Minas Gerais near Passos on Saturday, according to G1. The outlet reported the downing in the Passos region, in the south of the state.

Other Brazilian outlets gave further details. Metrópoles reported that the aircraft came down in the countryside and that the victims were pulled from the wreckage alive. SBT News said the crash happened on a farm and left five people hurt. Terra also reported that a helicopter with five aboard went down in a rural part of the state.

Rádio Itatiaia published a piece on the model of helicopter involved in the Passos crash, though the summary available does not name it.

The reports agree on the core facts: five occupants, a rural crash site in Minas Gerais, and survivors. They do not, in the material available, give the condition of the injured or identify anyone on board.

Authorities have not, in these reports, given a cause for the crash. It was not immediately clear from the coverage what flight the helicopter was on or where it had departed from.

What to watch next: updates from local authorities and aviation investigators on the condition of the five people hurt and on what brought the aircraft down.
