LAS VEGAS — A man linked to Suge Knight’s circle dodged questions on the witness stand Wednesday in the murder trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis, telling the court he would not help send anyone to prison, according to Rolling Stone.
The witness, described by Rolling Stone as a Suge Knight gang associate, gave combative testimony during the third day of witness statements in the trial over the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. CNN reported that the man demanded to be treated as a hostile witness during the heated exchange.
The testimony comes amid a tense atmosphere around the Las Vegas courthouse. People.com reported that gunfire erupted outside the building as Shakur’s family was leaving the trial, though details of that incident remain limited.
Earlier in the proceedings, a forensic pathologist detailed the fatal wounds Shakur suffered, ABC News reported. The testimony is part of the prosecution’s effort to link Davis to the drive-by shooting that killed Shakur in Las Vegas nearly three decades ago.

Davis, a former gang leader, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges. He is accused of orchestrating the shooting that also wounded Marion "Suge" Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, who was in the car with Shakur at the time.
The trial has drawn heavy attention due to the case’s long history and the involvement of prominent figures in the hip-hop world. The witness’s refusal to cooperate could complicate the prosecution’s case.
What to watch next: Whether the judge compels the witness to answer questions and how the courthouse shooting affects trial security.
