A stretch of road in France known as the "millionaire route" has been transformed into a deadly path by wildfires, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. The area, typically associated with luxury villas and high-end vehicles, now features destroyed homes, abandoned Porsches, and charred animal carcasses.
De Telegraaf reports that the fires swept through the region, leaving a trail of devastation. The outlet described the scene as a "road of death," with wealthy residents forced to flee, leaving behind expensive cars and properties that were consumed by flames. The report did not specify the exact location or the number of casualties.
The wildfires are part of a broader outbreak across southern Europe, with France and Spain particularly affected. Other Dutch media, including Reformatorisch Dagblad and AD.nl, have covered the fires, noting that a fire cloud created a nightmare for firefighters in France, while a village was nearly completely destroyed. The NOS reported that tens of thousands of people in the Madrid region had returned home, and Belgium sent aid.

The situation remains fluid, with fires still burning near the French city of Dijon and a Portuguese village surrounded by a blaze, according to de Volkskrant. Authorities are continuing to battle the flames as the region assesses the full extent of the damage.
