VivoCity will host a Super Mario-themed festive campaign in partnership with Nintendo, running from 13 November to 27 December, according to Marketing-Interactive. The centrepiece is a 10-metre-tall inflatable of Mario, which the mall says is the first of its scale in Singapore, rising out of a large green warp pipe at its Outdoor Plaza.

The activation, titled "Super Mario holiday power-up at VivoCity," spreads across six themed discovery zones built around oversized warp pipes, question mark blocks, gold coins, character displays and lit festive installations. Marketing-Interactive reports that the mall's snowfall sessions, held at 7.30pm and 8.30pm from Tuesday to Sunday during the campaign, will run against the backdrop of these displays.

Why it matters

The tie-up gives VivoCity a marquee year-end attraction and hands Nintendo a large-format physical presence in Singapore during the busiest shopping period of the year. It also continues a pattern at the mall: earlier in 2026, VivoCity converted its outdoor plaza into an oversized toy box themed around Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story 5," complete with carnival games, photo spots and merchandise pop-ups, Marketing-Interactive reported.

For VivoCity, the campaign doubles as a closer for its 20th anniversary year. Gwen Au, vice president of marketing communications at MPACT Property Management, said the mall wanted to mark the milestone with something special for shoppers, describing VivoCity as a long-standing gathering place for families and friends. She said the Nintendo collaboration was intended to add a playful element to the holidays and give visitors more reasons to celebrate together.

Pop-up store, game demos and character appearances

The programme extends inside the mall. A Nintendo pop-up store will operate at Central Court from 1 to 27 December, stocking official merchandise sourced from Japan, including a winter-themed Super Mario plush range sold only at the pop-up, according to Marketing-Interactive.

Gaming runs from 20 November to 27 December, when visitors can try demos on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. The demo lineup includes Mario Kart World, Pokémon Pokopia, Splatoon Raiders, Pikmin 4 and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.

Competitive players get their own slot: the Mario Kart World Challenge takes place on 5 and 6 December and again on 19 and 20 December, with prizes on offer for those who take on other visitors.

Mario and Luigi will appear in person on 5 and 6, 12 and 13, and 19 and 20 December. Shoppers who spend at least SG$100 on a single same-day receipt can redeem a meet-and-greet pass.

Spending rewards and the Christmas market

VivoRewards members can claim several festive perks during the campaign. A Super Mario eco bag duo set is available to members spending at least SG$300 across no more than two same-day receipts. Gold members who spend at least SG$500 can additionally qualify for a SG$20 mystery eVoucher.

New VivoRewards members who make a qualifying first purchase of SG$150 can receive a SG$5 VivoCity eVoucher, while Kids Club members can get a SG$10 store eVoucher with a minimum spend of SG$150 at participating stores.

The TANGS Christmas Market also returns from 1 to 27 December, with more than 50 brands selling festive food, lifestyle products and gifts, Marketing-Interactive reports.

Watch for turnout at the Outdoor Plaza once the inflatable goes up on 13 November, and whether the mall extends the format to further entertainment-led activations in 2027.
