President Yoweri Museveni has been confirmed as the chief guest at the coronation of Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I as the new king of Tooro, according to Daily Monitor. The ceremony is scheduled for September 29.
The government has affirmed Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I as the new Tooro King and is processing a Gazette notice to formalise the recognition, Daily Monitor reports. The confirmation was also carried by PML Daily, which identified the incoming monarch by the same name and coronation date.
Ahead of the event, Tooro subjects have been called upon to make cash and material contributions toward the coronation, while certain foods have been declared off-limits for the occasion, according to Pulse Uganda. The Uganda Observer also reported that Museveni would attend the new king's coronation.

The announcements point to a coordinated set of preparations involving the presidency, the central government and the kingdom's subjects as the date approaches.
What to watch next is whether the Gazette notice formalising the new king's recognition is published before September 29.
