Uganda Airlines has launched direct flights between Entebbe and Accra, with four weekly services on the route, according to Nilepost. The first flight was reported by NewVision.co.ug.
The managing director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) said the new link supports Ghana's ambition to serve as an aviation hub, Modern Ghana reports. The carrier's expansion is also being backed by Ugandan diplomatic missions, which have been mobilised to support the airline's growth across Africa, according to ChimpReports. Uganda Radionetwork reported that the route is intended to boost trade and tourism between the two countries.
The reporting does not include details such as aircraft type, flight times, fares or passenger figures, so those points remain unconfirmed.
The launch places Uganda's national carrier on a corridor linking East and West Africa, and Ghana's airport operator is framing the arrival as a step toward its hub goal. The route also gives travellers a direct option between Entebbe and Accra, a connection the reports say is expected to serve business and leisure demand.
What to watch next: whether Uganda Airlines adds frequency or further destinations in West Africa, and how GACL measures progress on its hub ambitions.
