Two unannounced PlayStation devices have shown up in certification paperwork from the Wi-Fi Alliance, the nonprofit group that approves Wi-Fi hardware, according to Gizmodo. The filings describe two devices listed under a "Gaming Console/Peripheral" category, and the report raises the possibility that one of them is a new version of the PlayStation Portal.

The model numbers given in the documents are CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105. The original PlayStation Portal, which launched in 2023, carries the model number CFI-Y1001. According to Gizmodo, that numbering pattern suggests at least one of the two entries could be a refreshed Portal.

The Portal is Sony's portable device for PS5 Remote Play and cloud streaming. Gizmodo notes that the current model runs on Android, and the filings state that both newly listed devices also run Android 15. The documents do not reveal hardware specifications or any other technical details, so what separates the two models from each other, or from the existing Portal, remains unknown.

Gizmodo's report also floats the idea that one of the devices could be a handheld tied to a future PlayStation 6, though nothing in the certification material confirms that. The listing itself establishes only that two gaming devices passed through Wi-Fi Alliance certification, a routine step for connected hardware.

Certification appearances often precede official announcements, but they can also cover variants that never reach store shelves. Sony has not commented on the filings.

What to watch next: whether Sony formally announces either device, and whether the CFI-Y2000 or CFI-Y2105 model numbers surface again in retail or regulatory listings.
