Two people who had been detained in the Sigtuna case have been released following questioning, according to Dagens Nyheter.

Senior prosecutor Lisa dos Santos said the two were let go after interviews, but that the suspicions against them have not been dropped and the investigation is moving forward, the outlet reported.

The releases were also covered by Aftonbladet, which described the pair as two Sigtuna suspects, and by Svenska Dagbladet, which reported that those held in the case had been let out.

Dagens Nyheter has separately published a former Sigtuna student's account of what the person described as a culture of silence at the school, saying it felt as though pupils were running the institution. Expressen has also carried testimony from a person named Michael, who said he was forced to eat vomit from a bucket in Sigtuna.

Those accounts are separate from the prosecutor's statement on the detentions and do not form part of the information dos Santos provided about the releases.

The prosecutor's remarks indicate that being released does not clear the two individuals in the eyes of the investigation, and that no conclusion has been reached.

What to watch next: whether prosecutors file charges, request new detentions, or close the case, and whether further testimony about conditions in Sigtuna follows.
