President Trump is set to meet with several top technology executives on Tuesday to discuss artificial intelligence safety, according to the Financial Times. Those expected to attend include Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei, Elon Musk and Meta's Mark Zuckerberg.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is also expected to join the discussions, Politico reports. Axios, which first reported Amodei's involvement, described the gathering as a White House dinner.
The meeting comes as Congress has yet to pass legislation setting rules for AI development. According to CNBC, Johnson said he hopes any guardrails for the technology remain "voluntary" while lawmakers stay inactive on the issue.
The guest list spans companies that often compete directly, including Anthropic and Musk's xAI, alongside Meta. Amodei has publicly warned about AI risks, while Musk has repeatedly called for regulation of the field.

Details of the agenda were not available in the reports. It was not immediately clear what the executives or the administration hope to achieve from the talks.
What to watch next: whether the White House announces any policy commitments after the meeting, and whether Johnson's preference for voluntary standards holds as pressure for federal AI rules builds.
