Preorders have opened for the Surface Laptop Ultra and other notebooks equipped with Nvidia's RTX Spark hardware, according to heise online. The German tech outlet reported the news on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, without listing full specifications or a shipping date.
Pricing for at least one model has surfaced separately. ComputerBase reports that the MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+ (C1XMT) carries a starting price of 3,449 euros. That figure places the RTX Spark lineup in the premium segment, though the material available does not confirm prices for the Surface Laptop Ultra or the remaining models.
The launch arrives alongside Microsoft's broader push to frame Windows around on-device AI. A Microsoft Source post titled "Windows for hybrid intelligence" describes the company's positioning of the platform, while Caschys Blog reports on a Microsoft Surface RTX Spark Dev Box — a compact AI workstation priced at 6,000 dollars. Together, the items suggest RTX Spark is intended to span both consumer notebooks and developer-oriented hardware.
Not everyone inside Microsoft is presenting local AI as risk-free. PC Games Hardware reports that Microsoft has warned that local AI agents are not secure, a caution that sits awkwardly next to marketing built around running AI workloads directly on the device.
What to watch next: whether Microsoft and its partners publish full specifications, confirmed ship dates, and regional pricing for the Surface Laptop Ultra and the wider RTX Spark notebook range.
