A full storm hit the Norwegian coast on Monday, closing roads and forcing ferry services to stop running, according to NRK. The broadcaster reported the conditions as a full storm, with the disruption affecting travel along the coastline.

Ferry routes were cancelled as the strong winds moved in, with rbnett.no also reporting suspended services. Roads were shut as a result of the weather, NRK said.

Power supplies were hit as well. Fosna-Folket reported two separate outages that left several hundred people without electricity.

Adresseavisen, reporting ahead of the worst of the conditions, warned that a full storm was expected and that trees could be blown over. Avisa-St.no published a breakdown of where winds were strongest in the ST area, pointing residents to local measurements of the gusts.

The reports give no figure for the total number of travellers affected or the length of the closures, and no injuries have been reported in the material available.

Norway's coast is regularly exposed to severe autumn storms, and ferry operators and road authorities routinely suspend services when wind speeds make crossings and driving unsafe. The cancellations reported on Monday follow that pattern, with the strongest gusts recorded in the ST region, according to Avisa-St.no.

What to watch next: whether ferry routes and closed roads reopen, and how quickly power is restored to the hundreds of customers affected.
