South Africa have selected their playing squad for an upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, marking the first time the two sides will meet in a bilateral series on Zimbabwean soil, according to The Express Tribune.
The announcement, reported by The Express Tribune on Thursday, confirms the squad for what the outlet describes as a historic visit. Specific dates, venues, and the format of the matches were not included in the initial report.
The tour represents a notable step for cricket relations between the two neighbouring countries. While South Africa have long been a dominant force in international cricket, Zimbabwe have struggled for consistent fixtures against top-tier nations in recent years, making this series a significant opportunity for the home side.
The Express Tribune’s report did not list the players selected, nor did it specify whether the tour will include Test, one-day international, or Twenty20 matches. Further details are expected to be released by Cricket South Africa in the coming days.
The squad announcement sets the stage for what will be a closely watched series, particularly for Zimbabwean fans eager to see their team test themselves against one of the sport’s traditional powers. The focus now shifts to the official itinerary and the first ball of the tour.
