Sky Sports has published a guide to watching English Football League matches during the 2026/27 season, setting out how supporters can follow Championship, League One and League Two fixtures across its television channels, its app and the NOW streaming platform. According to Sky Sports, subscribers can access coverage through Sky Sports, the dedicated Sky Sports+ channel and the Sky Sports app, with a flexible contract-free option available via NOW.

The broadcaster says its scheduling will deliver up to ten live EFL games in each weekend round. Roughly five of those are expected to fall in the Saturday lunchtime slot with a 12.30pm kick-off, while Friday evenings at 8pm and Sunday afternoons at 12.30pm are described as regular windows. A smaller number of matches will also be picked for Thursday and Monday nights.

Why it matters

The arrangement matters for supporters who increasingly rely on streaming rather than a traditional satellite subscription, and for the EFL itself as it seeks to keep every club visible across a long campaign. Sky Sports states that each Championship, League One and League Two side will appear live on its platforms more than 20 times over the season, and that more than 1,000 games drawn from 1,891 matches across the EFL, Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy will be broadcast.

That volume of coverage is central to the broadcaster's pitch. Sky Sports describes the EFL as the core of its Sky Sports+ output, with the service positioned as a way to carry far more fixtures than a conventional channel schedule could accommodate.

How the coverage is structured

Beyond the weekend windows, Sky Sports says every midweek EFL fixture will be shown live, along with matches played on Bank Holidays, including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Every League One and League Two game staged during international breaks will also be broadcast, and the full set of final-day fixtures across the EFL will be available.

Sky Sports+ is described as both a television channel and a streaming service, offered to Sky Sports subscribers at no additional charge. The broadcaster says the service can carry more than 1,000 live EFL games in a season, including every Carabao Cup tie, and can run up to 100 concurrent live events through extra streams. Viewers watching on television can press the red button to move between streams and pick a match.

A Multiview feature allows supporters to follow as many as four live EFL games simultaneously this season, according to Sky Sports.

For fans who want to track a specific club, the broadcaster advises logging in to the Sky Sports app and following chosen teams and competitions using the pen icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. When a followed side is playing live on Sky, the fixture is surfaced at the top of the home screen under a "Your live events" heading, taking the viewer to the stream in a single tap.

The Sky Sports app is free to download for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Sky Sports says anyone using the free app can watch EFL highlights, which are published shortly after the final whistle, with clips accessible through the "Watch" section for users who follow their team.

For those without a Sky subscription, a NOW Sports flexible membership provides instant access to all Sky Sports channels, including every live Sky Sports+ stream, without a long-term contract. Sky Sports also points readers toward its current deals for further subscription details.

What to watch

With the season under way, the practical questions for supporters are which fixtures land in the Saturday lunchtime and Friday night slots and how quickly highlights appear after full-time. Sky Sports has indicated that its full spread of more than 1,000 EFL, Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy broadcasts will run throughout the campaign.
