Tickets for Singapore’s ASEAN Championship semifinal first leg against Thailand sold out almost immediately after going on sale, leaving many fans disappointed, according to The Straits Times.
The match is set to take place at Jalan Besar Stadium, with tickets released on Wednesday, Aug 12. The Football Association of Singapore had earlier announced the sale would open that day, but demand far outstripped supply, the newspaper reported.
Fans took to social media to express frustration over the rapid sellout, with some saying they had waited for hours only to find no tickets left. The Straits Times noted that the quick depletion of inventory was a major talking point among supporters.
Channel News Asia separately reported that scalpers were already reselling tickets at inflated prices, adding to the anger of fans who missed out. One supporter quoted by the outlet said the chance to attend would have “meant the world,” underscoring the emotional weight of the fixture.

The semifinal carries extra significance for Singapore, as the national team has not won the ASEAN Championship since 2012. ESPN Singapore reported that captain Hariss Harun has spoken about how the 14-year drought has deepened his appreciation for that earlier triumph, suggesting the current squad is eager to end the long wait.
Tickets for the second leg, which will be played in Thailand, were also expected to go on sale around the same period, according to AsiaOne, though details on availability were not confirmed in the reports reviewed.
With the first leg sold out, attention now turns to whether authorities will address resale practices and how many fans can secure seats for the return match.
