Singapore secured a 2-0 victory over Timor-Leste in the ASEAN Championship on Monday, keeping their perfect record intact in Group A, according to ESPN Singapore.
The win means Singapore has now won all of its group-stage matches so far. ESPN Singapore reports that the team's coach, Lee, had expressed caution ahead of the match, noting the challenge posed by Timor-Leste, as reported by ASEAN United FC. The Football Association of Singapore also indicated the Lions were aiming for an improved performance in this fixture.
With this result, Singapore tops Group A, as reported by The Straits Times. The team has yet to drop points in the tournament.
ESPN Singapore notes that the real test for Singapore now begins as the competition moves into the knockout rounds. The team will look to carry its momentum from the group stage into the next phase of the ASEAN Championship.
