Saudi Arabia's civil defense authority has issued an emergency alert for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall expected to hit the country from Friday through Tuesday, according to a report by the Arabic-language news outlet Youm7.
The warning covers a multi-day period of unstable weather, with officials urging residents to exercise caution as the storms could bring flash flooding and hazardous conditions. Youm7 reports that the civil defense has activated emergency protocols to respond to any weather-related incidents.
In a separate advisory, the Saudi meteorological agency warned of a heat wave and blowing dust in the country's eastern region, as reported by the news site Ajel. That alert highlights the contrasting weather patterns affecting different parts of the kingdom simultaneously.
Additional reports from Egyptian outlets Al-Masry Al-Youm and Sada El-Balad indicate that forecasters are predicting intense downpours and strong winds lasting into the evening hours. The Saudi weather service has also issued a specific notice for the Al-Baha region and the town of Sharurah, warning of heavy rain and gusty winds there, according to the Saudi newspaper Alyaum.

The unusual timing of these storms—during the peak of summer—has drawn attention, with one outlet noting rainfall occurring despite the season's typically dry conditions.
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated on official warnings and avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding. The storms are expected to persist through Tuesday, and further updates from the civil defense are likely as conditions evolve.
