Saturn will appear fully illuminated by the Sun on October 4, 2026, an event known as opposition, according to Spatial Highlights. The phenomenon places the ringed planet at its brightest in Earth's sky for the year.

The event is one of several celestial highlights expected during October 2026. MetroTVNews.com lists Saturn's opposition alongside the Orionid meteor shower among the month's notable sky events.

The Orionid shower began on the night of October 2, sortiraparis.com reports, and IDN Times notes that October's sky holds six separate meteor showers in total.

Other sights are also expected. RRI.co.id reports that the month's night sky features an object nicknamed the "Devil's Star" as well as the Witch Head Nebula.

Saturn's opposition occurs when Earth passes between the planet and the Sun, leaving the planet's Earth-facing side fully lit. The same geometry brings Saturn closest to Earth and makes it visible for most of the night.

The Orionids are associated with debris from Halley's Comet, though the reporting above does not specify viewing times, peak dates or sky conditions for any of the events.

Observers hoping to catch Saturn at its best should mark October 4, 2026, and watch for further details on the Orionids and the month's other showers as the date approaches.
