Samsung used Gamescom 2026 to introduce two new gaming monitors, according to GSMArena.com. The lineup includes a curved 49-inch OLED display with a 360Hz refresh rate and a 27-inch IPS LCD panel that reaches a 1,100Hz refresh rate.
The 49-inch model is an ultra-wide curved OLED, a format Samsung has pushed for immersive gaming. The 27-inch IPS LCD, by contrast, targets competitive players who prioritize speed over panel size. GSMArena.com reports both were shown at the Cologne, Germany trade show, which runs through late August.
The 1,100Hz figure stands out because it far exceeds the refresh rates found in most current gaming monitors, which typically top out at 360Hz or 500Hz. Samsung's announcement also aligns with broader moves in its display business. FlatpanelsHD noted that Samsung has already teased its first 2027 OLED monitors, including 32-inch 4K, 42-inch 4K, and a 49-inch 5120x1440 model. TechPowerUp separately highlighted Samsung Display's QD-OLED push at Gamescom, suggesting the company is doubling down on high-end panel tech across both gaming and productivity lines.

The Verge, in its coverage, framed the 1,100Hz monitor as an extreme but logical step for Samsung, which has a history of pushing refresh rate boundaries. The company has not yet confirmed pricing or release dates for either display, according to the reporting.
What to watch next: whether Samsung pairs these refresh-rate extremes with the 2027 OLED lineup it has already previewed, and how competitors respond to the 1,100Hz benchmark.
