Jorge Sampaoli earned his first victory as Talleres head coach on Monday, as his side crushed Platense 4-0 away from home, according to Página|12.
The match, played on August 3, 2026, saw Talleres dominate from start to finish. The result marked a significant turnaround for the club, which had yet to win under Sampaoli's leadership since his recent appointment.
Página|12 reported the scoreline, while ESPN Argentina confirmed it was the first triumph of the Sampaoli era. Cadena 3 Argentina highlighted the goals, noting that fans celebrated the "Matador" nickname as Talleres ran up the score.
The opening goal came from a goalkeeping error by Platense, as Olé reported. The blunder allowed Talleres to take a 1-0 lead, and the visitors never looked back, adding three more goals to seal a comprehensive victory.
Sampaoli, who has coached at the highest levels of Argentine and international football, addressed the media after the match. According to La Voz, he made a strong statement regarding the transfer market, though the outlet did not provide specifics on what he said.
The win gives Talleres momentum as they continue their campaign. Platense, meanwhile, will need to regroup after a heavy defeat on home soil.
For Talleres fans, the performance suggests Sampaoli's tactical approach is beginning to take shape. The question now is whether the team can sustain this level of play in upcoming fixtures, with the coach's comments on squad reinforcements hinting at possible changes before the transfer window closes.
