Russian forces carried out missile strikes on Kyiv and the city of Pryluky, with Ukrainian emergency services reporting at least 19 people killed, among them four children, according to Sky TG24. The death toll from the Pryluky attack was put at 14 by Ukrainian emergency services, RaiNews reported.

President Volodymyr Zelensky described the strikes as a birthday present for Vladimir Putin, a remark carried by both RaiNews and Il Fatto Quotidiano. Moscow, for its part, said no trilateral meeting is expected, Sky TG24 reported.

The Kremlin told European diplomats to decide for themselves whether to evacuate from Kyiv, adding that Russian raids would continue, according to Il Sole 24 ORE. The same outlet reported on figures released by the Italian embassy.

Separately, NATO's Military Committee was visiting Kyiv, the Corriere della Sera live coverage said. That report also noted that the death toll from the Russian raids had risen to 15, and that US President Donald Trump said he would soon call Putin over a plague alert.

The material reviewed does not give a single consolidated casualty figure, with outlets reporting different numbers at different points. Sky TG24's summary cited at least 19 dead including four children, while Ukrainian emergency services put the Pryluky deaths at 14 and Corriere della Sera reported the toll rising to 15.

What to watch next: whether Moscow's refusal of a trilateral meeting holds, and how the casualty figures are updated as rescue work continues.
