Police in Amsterdam have released images of a suspect after a metro passenger was dragged into bushes near Strandvliet station and sexually assaulted, according to AD.nl.
The incident took place shortly after the victim and the suspect met, with the suspect pulling the victim into vegetation near the station and forcing sexual acts, AT5 reports. Het Parool adds that the victim was targeted after exiting the train at Strandvliet, and police are now sharing footage of the suspect to aid the investigation.
Dutch outlets have reported the case with varying details on the victim's gender. AD.nl and De Gelderlander describe the victim as a woman and a man, respectively, while AT5 and Het Parool use gender-neutral language. The core facts remain consistent: a metro traveler was assaulted in the bushes near the station shortly after encountering the suspect.
Authorities have not yet confirmed an arrest, and the suspect remains at large. The release of images suggests police are seeking public help to identify the individual.
What to watch next: whether the suspect is identified and apprehended, and if police provide further details on the assault or the victim's condition.
