Police in Rangpur have begun questioning two suspects, Siddhartha and Mugdha, at the jail gate as part of the investigation into the killing of four people, according to a report by Prothom Alo published on Tuesday.

The interrogation marks a new phase in the probe into the deaths, which have drawn widespread attention in Bangladesh. The two men are being held in connection with the murders, and investigators are now pressing them for details about the incident.

Prothom Alo reported that drug tests conducted on both Siddhartha and Mugdha found no traces of narcotics in their systems. The negative results contradict any suggestion that the suspects were under the influence of drugs at the time of the alleged killings.

Separately, The Daily Ittefaq reported that police have documented around 80 phone calls exchanged between the suspects in the period before and after the murders. The call records are expected to be a key piece of evidence as authorities try to piece together the sequence of events.

The case has also prompted calls for a judicial inquiry. Dainik Shiksha reported that a demand has been made for a court-supervised investigation into the killing of the teacher's family, reflecting public concern over the handling of the case.

The murders have shaken the local community in Rangpur, a northwestern district of Bangladesh. Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities are expected to continue questioning the two suspects in the coming days, and the phone records are likely to play a central role in determining whether additional individuals were involved in the killings.
