The Phoenix Fuel Masters defeated the Blackwater Bossing to finish the first round of the PBA season at the top of their group, according to Inquirer.net.
The victory gave Phoenix its fourth win of the round, as reported by BusinessMirror. The Philippine News Agency described the Fuel Masters as venting their ire on the skidding Bossing, who suffered their third consecutive loss, according to The Manila Times.
Inquirer.net reports that the win allowed Phoenix to top its group after the first round of competition. The result extended Blackwater’s losing streak, with the Bossing unable to reverse their recent slide. The Manila Standard noted that the game was part of a broader slate that also saw TNT arrest its own slump on a buzzer-beater by Nambatac.
The Fuel Masters’ strong start positions them well as the tournament moves into its next phase. Blackwater will need to regroup quickly to avoid falling further behind in the standings.
