Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices in the Philippines have been reduced for September, with the decrease attributed to lower freight costs, according to Philippine News Agency.
The price adjustment took effect on September 1, 2026, as confirmed by the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE). Reports from multiple outlets, including Manila Bulletin and GMA Network, indicate the DOE announced the rollback, though the exact amount varies by source. ABS-CBN reported a reduction of PHP 0.40 per kilogram, while Philstar.com noted that prices were previously expected to rise by PHP 2 to PHP 3 per kilogram before the rollback was confirmed.
The decline in shipping expenses was the primary factor behind the lower prices, Philippine News Agency reports. Freight rates for LPG imports have eased, allowing suppliers to pass on the savings to consumers. The rollback applies to household LPG cylinders commonly used for cooking, which are sold through major brands and retailers across the country.

This September adjustment marks a reversal from the previous month, when price movements were less favorable for consumers. The DOE typically issues monthly price advisories for LPG and other fuel products, reflecting changes in global contract prices and logistics costs. While the current reduction is modest, it provides some relief to households that rely on LPG for daily cooking needs.
Market watchers will now look ahead to October, when the DOE is expected to announce the next round of price adjustments. Whether the downward trend continues will depend on global supply conditions and freight market movements in the coming weeks.
