Perodua has reduced prices across the entire Axia lineup in Malaysia, with savings ranging from RM500 to RM4,700 depending on the variant, according to Paul Tan's Automotive News. The price adjustment took effect immediately, as reported on Monday, August 3, 2026.

The steepest reduction applies to the entry-level 1.0G trim, which is now RM4,700 cheaper. The 1.0X variant sees a RM1,500 price cut, the 1.0SE is reduced by RM1,000, and the range-topping 1.0AV is RM500 less expensive. Following these changes, the Axia now starts at RM33,900, as noted by multiple outlets including SoyaCincau and The Vibes.

Perodua said the move passes operational savings on to customers, according to The Edge Malaysia. The company framed the price cuts as a direct benefit for buyers rather than a promotional campaign.

The revised pricing sharpens the Axia's position in Malaysia's budget car segment. Car comparison site carz.com.my has already published a head-to-head analysis of the Axia against the Proton Saga, noting that the new RM33,900 entry price changes the value equation for cost-conscious buyers weighing the two popular models.

With the Axia now undercutting its main rival at the base level, the question is whether Proton will respond with its own price adjustment to stay competitive in the entry-level sedan and hatchback market.
