The Oyo State Governorship Campaign Council of the Allied Peoples' Movement (APM) has enlarged its campaign committees, adding new members to a list it had earlier made public, according to Punch Newspapers. The council said the move is meant to improve coordination, mobilisation and engagement with communities at the grassroots level ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The expansion was announced in a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital, by the council's Director-General, Dr Nureni Adeniran. Punch Newspapers reports that the additions are intended to make the council's operations more effective and to bring more people into the campaign structure.
Why it matters
The restructuring comes as parties across the country build their machinery for the 2027 general elections. For the APM in Oyo State, the changes touch two areas that campaigns depend on: how supporters are mobilised and how voters are reached with information. By creating a dedicated committee for community relations and voter education, and by breaking its mobilisation work into smaller specialised units, the council is signalling that it wants a more organised structure rather than a single broad committee.
The timing also matters. The council has set a formal inauguration date, which turns a list of names into an active campaign body. According to Punch Newspapers, the expanded committees will be inaugurated at the Local Government Hall, Secretariat, in Ibadan, on Friday, October 6, 2026, at 3 pm.
New committee and split mobilisation team
Adeniran said a new Community Relations and Voters' Education Committee has been set up. He also said the existing mobilisation committee has been divided into specialised subcommittees to improve coordination and produce better results.
The Director-General expressed confidence that the additions and the restructuring would improve the council's ability to engage communities, mobilise supporters, promote voter education and coordinate campaign activities across the state.
The additional members
The statement named several new members across the council's committees. Punch Newspapers lists them as follows:
- Media and Publicity Committee: Moses Tella, Mariam Taofeek and Jadesola Ibitoye.
- Logistics and Transportation Committee: Akande Ayinde, Joel Oyeyemi, Oludayo Opatokun, Kamoru Adayemi and Olawale Aremu.
- Reconciliation and Contacts Committee: Mufu Ogunremi, Adigun Adeniyi, Adesanya Solomon and Oladepo Kazeem Adebowale.
- Protocol and Accommodation Committee: Maruf Balogun, Yusuf Adekunle, Gbadegesin Waheed, Ajala Abraham and Ajao Tolulope Deborah.
In the same statement, the council said it remains committed to building a campaign structure that can reach communities across Oyo State, strengthen engagement with stakeholders and coordinate activities towards the party's electoral goals.
The report was published by Punch Newspapers on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
What to watch: whether the inauguration goes ahead as scheduled on October 6, 2026, and whether the council announces further changes to its committees before then.
