Overwatch's fifth season, titled "Doctrine of the Undying," opens today, October 7, according to GAME Watch. The update brings the game's newest support hero, Doctrine, into the roster as a full release.
Blizzard Entertainment lists Doctrine on its official hero page, confirming the character's arrival alongside the season's start.
The season also changes how one existing hero is played. Sombra moves from the Damage role to Support starting October 7, per Dengeki Online's report. The outlet notes that players who prefer her current Damage playstyle have limited time left to use her that way.
Season 5's launch trailer also previews a crossover with the anime and manga series "Solo Leveling," according to Game Spark and 4Gamer.net. The collaboration adds skins pairing Overwatch characters with figures from the series, including Genji as Sung Jinwoo and Ana as Cha Hae-in, Game Spark reports. 4Gamer.net notes the trailer also shows Halloween skins.
The crossover follows Blizzard's pattern of tying seasonal content to outside franchises, though the reporting does not specify how long the Solo Leveling items will remain available.
With Season 5 now live, players can expect further details on the crossover's duration and the full contents of the season's battle pass in the coming days.
