Victor Osimhen is reportedly keen on a move to Manchester United, while Real Madrid have made a formal approach for midfielder Martín Zubimendi, according to a roundup of transfer rumors published by Sports Illustrated on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
The report, which aggregates the latest speculation across European football, indicates that the Nigerian striker has set his sights on a switch to Old Trafford. No further details on the potential fee, contract terms, or timeline for a deal were included in the summary.
In a separate development, Real Madrid have taken steps to secure Zubimendi, the Spanish midfielder currently at Real Sociedad. The nature of the approach—whether an official bid, a preliminary inquiry, or a meeting with representatives—was not specified in the available summary.
Both stories emerge as the summer transfer window enters its final weeks, with clubs across Europe looking to finalize their squads before the new season. Manchester United have been linked with a number of attacking options this window, while Real Madrid are reportedly seeking to strengthen their midfield depth.
Sports Illustrated’s report does not confirm whether either transfer is close to completion, and no comments from the clubs, players, or their agents were cited. As with all transfer rumors at this stage, the information remains speculative until official announcements are made.
What to watch next: whether either club follows up with a concrete bid before the window closes.
