Leeds United beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, with substitute Noah Okafor scoring the only goal of the game with ten minutes left. According to Goal.com, the result brought an end to Roberto De Zerbi's unbeaten run with Spurs.

For long stretches the match appeared headed for a goalless draw. Okafor, who had been on the pitch for barely a minute, changed that when Harry Wilson delivered a ball into the penalty area and it fell to him. The forward struck first time, beating goalkeeper Antonín Kinský low to his left corner. Goal.com reports that Elland Road erupted in celebration and Okafor removed his shirt.

The win was Leeds' first since 14 September. Tottenham's four-match unbeaten sequence, during which they kept two clean sheets, came to a halt despite a late header from Jan Paul van Hecke that could not rescue a point.

Why it matters

The defeat leaves Spurs reflecting on a performance that never found its rhythm, particularly in a first half where they struggled to progress the ball. De Zerbi's side had built momentum over their unbeaten stretch, and losing it at Elland Road against a Leeds team that had not won in weeks will raise questions about their ability to break down organised opponents.

For Leeds, the three points carry obvious weight. A first victory in nearly two months lifts the mood around the club and rewards a display that Goal.com describes as narrow but deserved. Okafor's instant impact from the bench also underlines the value of the squad options available to the Leeds manager.

Officials under scrutiny in a scrappy first half

Goal.com reports that the biggest talking points before the interval involved the match officials rather than the players. Mateus Fernandes appeared to handle the ball inside his own penalty area, but the video referee did not have footage clear enough to reach a conclusive decision, and no penalty was given.

Then, on the stroke of half-time, Jayden Bogle kicked Mathys Tel out of the match. VAR did not intervene, Bogle received no card, and Tel was forced off with an injury.

Tottenham's attacking output before the break was limited. With Micky van de Ven, Jan Paul van Hecke and Mohammed Kudus — a former Ajax player — all in the starting line-up, Spurs found it difficult to move the ball forward. Only Omar Marmoush and Kudus managed to test the Leeds goal, and neither found a way through.

Leeds take control after the interval

Whatever was said at half-time, it was Leeds who returned with greater energy. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ao Tanaka came closest to opening the scoring as the home side put Kinský's goal under sustained pressure. Goal.com notes that Leeds looked the more likely winners throughout the second period.

Sean Longstaff believed he had broken the deadlock, only for Kinský to produce a spectacular save to deny him. The Tottenham goalkeeper's intervention kept the score level until Wilson's ball into the box found Okafor.

The goal arrived with ten minutes remaining and proved decisive. Van Hecke's last-gasp header could not alter the outcome, and Leeds saw out the win.

Next up, Tottenham will look to respond quickly and protect their standing after a result that interrupts their recent form, while Leeds will aim to build on a victory that ends their long wait.
