The House of Representatives has ordered the Inspector General of Police to produce the disputed Director-General of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Implementation Council (PFIPC) within 48 hours, according to Channels Television.
The directive was issued by a House committee investigating what has been described as a fake agency scandal. The panel has also scheduled to question the Accountant-General of the Federation on Wednesday, Punch Newspapers reports.
The probe follows revelations that the PFIPC may not be a legitimate government body. Premium Times Nigeria has reported that a media organisation stated former President Muhammadu Buhari did not create the council. TheCable adds that the committee specifically asked the IGP to produce Adeniyi Adeyemi for questioning on Wednesday.
The Guardian Nigeria News reports that investigators have uncovered 29 forged documents during the course of the inquiry. The House panel is now demanding the IGP ensure Adeyemi appears before it to answer questions regarding the agency's status and operations.
The committee has given law enforcement 48 hours to comply with the production order. Further developments are expected when the Accountant-General appears before the panel on Wednesday.
