Elon Musk is facing criticism after his platform X gave prominence to a controversial film starring Armie Hammer, according to a report from yahoo.com published on Friday, July 31, 2026. The report indicates that the movie was elevated on the social media site, drawing immediate backlash from users and observers.
Yahoo.com reports that the decision to boost the film has sparked a wave of negative reactions, with critics questioning the timing and judgment behind the move. The controversy centers on Hammer, who has been the subject of public scrutiny in recent years, though the report does not provide additional details on the specific film or the nature of the criticism.
The report, sourced from Google News, offers limited context, noting only that Musk "came under fire" for the promotion. No further specifics were available regarding which film was involved, how it was elevated, or the exact scope of the backlash. The lack of detail means the full extent of the controversy remains unclear at this time.
This is not the first time Musk has faced criticism for content decisions on X, but the report does not confirm any prior incidents or provide a timeline for this latest development. The story appears to be developing, with the original article published mid-morning on Friday.
Observers will be watching to see whether Musk or X issues a response to the criticism, and whether the platform adjusts its handling of the film in light of the backlash. For now, the situation remains fluid, with yahoo.com's report serving as the primary source of information.
