Mourinho has reportedly sent a pointed message to Kylian Mbappé following the forward’s hat trick in Real Madrid’s match against Real Sociedad, according to Libertad Digital. The report, published on Thursday, 27 August 2026, suggests the veteran coach was not willing to let the performance pass without comment.
The match took place in La Liga, where Mbappé scored three goals for Real Madrid. While the hat trick drew praise, several Spanish outlets framed the result differently. El Mundo described the win as a “goleada maquillada por Mbappé,” suggesting the scoreline flattered Real Madrid and was masked by the Frenchman’s individual brilliance.
Diario AS published its own player ratings for Real Madrid against Real Sociedad, offering a mixed assessment of the team’s performance beyond Mbappé’s contribution. Meanwhile, MARCA reported that Mourinho “put the turbo on the BMV,” a reference that appears to link the coach’s influence to Real Madrid’s attacking trio, though the exact context is not detailed in the available material.
Cadena SER quoted Álvaro Benito, who warned that if Mourinho achieves his objectives, Real Madrid could become a formidable side. Benito’s comment followed the team’s victory, adding another layer to the discussion around the coach’s impact.
The exact wording of Mourinho’s message to Mbappé has not been disclosed in the source material. Libertad Digital’s headline indicates the coach “does not let anything pass” and chose to address the hat trick directly, but the specifics of his remarks remain unclear.
What to watch next: whether Mourinho’s comments add tension to Real Madrid’s dressing room or simply serve as motivation for Mbappé ahead of the next La Liga fixture.
