Real Madrid defeated FC Barcelona in La Liga on Monday, with Kylian Mbappé scoring the decisive goal at Camp Nou, according to De Telegraaf. The Dutch newspaper reports that José Mourinho dropped to his knees on the touchline to celebrate the winner, then fixed a long stare toward the Barcelona bench.
The result ended Barcelona's unbeaten run in the league, NOS reports, and handed the club its first defeat of the La Liga season. De Volkskrant described Mourinho's side as putting a stop to Barcelona's impressive winning streak at the stadium he knows well.
The match also marked Frenkie de Jong's return to action, though NU reports that his comeback was overshadowed by Mbappé's goals. Voetbalzone reported that Mourinho teased Barcelona supporters after Real Madrid's late victory.
Mourinho's gesture toward the Barcelona dugout is likely to draw attention in the Spanish press in the coming days. De Telegraaf's headline focused on both the celebration and the prolonged look in that direction.
The win is a significant result for Real Madrid in the league table and a setback for Barcelona, whose strong run was halted in front of their own fans. Further details on the standings and on De Jong's fitness were not included in the reports summarised here.
What to watch next: Barcelona's response in their following league fixture, and whether De Jong's return holds after his first appearance back.
