Talks are under way about a possible summit involving Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, according to Il Sole 24 ORE. The Italian newspaper reported on Thursday that a discussion is in progress over a three-way meeting, without giving further details on timing or venue.

The report comes as both Russia and Ukraine have indicated openness to trilateral negotiations with the United States, RaiNews reported. According to the same outlet, Moscow also launched 600 drones against a city, an indication that fighting has not paused while diplomatic contacts continue.

Coverage in the Italian press points to a wider diplomatic push around the idea. The Corriere della Sera reported that Xi Jinping marked the anniversary of the Long March and was weighing the opportunity of a trilateral meeting with Trump and Putin, in which Ukraine would also be discussed. La Stampa, for its part, wrote that an agreement would suit both adversaries, who are each in difficulty, while cautioning that a deal remains hard to reach.

There has also been activity at a lower level. Radio Radicale reported on a Brussels link-up discussing a Tuesday meeting in Oslo between Zelensky and Steve Witkoff, Trump's envoy.

No joint statement or confirmed date has been reported by any of the outlets. What to watch next: whether Moscow, Kyiv or Washington confirm a format for talks, and whether the Oslo contact between Zelensky and Witkoff produces a concrete step toward one.
