President Javier Milei told the Argentine Rural Society on Sunday that revenue from the energy and mining sectors will finance the removal of export taxes on agricultural products, according to La Nación.
Speaking at the Rural Society’s annual exhibition, Milei said the growth of those industries “will finance” the elimination of the duties, known as retenciones. The president did not announce any immediate measures, and attendees noted the absence of new policy announcements, Página|12 reported.
The Rural Society’s president, Nicolás Pino, reiterated his organization’s demand for zero export taxes, Infobae reported. Milei’s speech included praise for the agricultural sector, with La Nación listing ten phrases in which he said the sector “will fly like never before.”
Fact-checking organization Chequeado analyzed Milei’s remarks and published a series of verifications on claims he made regarding currency controls, exports to China, and production levels.

The president’s address came as the government continues to seek ways to reduce the fiscal burden on farmers while maintaining revenue. Milei’s proposal ties the tax relief to expected income from energy and mining projects, sectors he has prioritized for development.
