AC Milan won the first Derby della Madonnina of the season, defeating Inter Milan 3-1 at San Siro in the early hours of Sunday WIB, according to detikSport. Christian Pulisic, Adrien Rabiot and Diego Moreira scored for the Rossoneri, with Alessandro Bastoni replying for Inter.

The result is Inter's first loss of the Serie A campaign and drops them from the top of the table. detikSport reports that Inter now sit on 25 points from 10 matches, behind Lazio on goal difference.

Why it matters

The derby carried weight beyond local pride. Inter arrived unbeaten and left the pitch having surrendered first place, with Lazio now ahead of them on the tiebreaker. For Milan, the win delivers a statement result in the season's first meeting between the city rivals and underlines how dangerous they can be when their attacking transitions click.

detikSport notes that Milan's first half was remarkably efficient: three goals from three shots on target. That kind of conversion rate in a match of this intensity is rare, and it left Inter chasing the game from the fourth minute onward.

Moreira drives a devastating first half

The opening goal came inside four minutes. Moreira broke down the right, got past Carlos Augusto and delivered a cross toward the far post. Yann Bisseck failed to clear, and Pulisic headed the ball past Josep Martinez with little resistance.

Inter had barely begun to respond when the deficit doubled on 10 minutes. Moreira again caused problems on the right flank, and this time he pulled the ball back for Rabiot, who finished with a chipped left-footed strike. Martinez was left rooted as the ball found the net.

Bastoni gave Inter a route back on 22 minutes. Hakan Calhanoglu's corner reached Manuel Akanji, whose header was turned in by Bastoni from close range at the far corner. A minute later Calhanoglu tested Mike Maignan with a powerful effort from distance, forcing the Milan goalkeeper to push the ball away.

Maignan's resistance proved decisive as Inter pushed for an equaliser. detikSport reports that he made another sharp save on 35 minutes, reacting quickly to deny Djed Spence from close range.

Moreira then capped his own performance two minutes before the break. From a free kick roughly 30 metres out, his strike cleared Bisseck's head and beat Martinez to the left side, restoring Milan's two-goal cushion at 3-1.

Inter's second-half push falls short

Inter made five substitutions after the interval and pressed for a way back into the match. Augusto came closest on 54 minutes, meeting a Calhanoglu cross with a header that drifted wide.

The visitors were awarded a penalty on 75 minutes when Mario Gila was judged to have handled a cross from Petar Susic. detikSport reports that VAR reviewed the decision and overturned it, giving Inter only a corner instead.

Despite the changes and the sustained pressure, Inter could not find another goal. Milan's defence held its shape through the closing stretch, and the scoreline stayed at 3-1 until the final whistle.

Milan's lineup featured Maignan in goal behind Sankhoun Diawara, Strahinja Pavlovic, Koni De Winter and Gila, with Pulisic, Luka Modric, Yunus Musah and Moreira across midfield and Rabiot supporting Goncalo Ramos. Inter started Martinez in goal, with Bastoni, Akanji and Bisseck in defence and Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella in midfield behind Marcus Thuram.

The result leaves Inter with work to do to reclaim top spot, while Milan take local bragging rights into the rest of the campaign. The next round of Serie A fixtures will show whether Inter's response is immediate or whether the derby defeat lingers.
