Toronto Maple Leafs rookie McKenna will try to add to his first point with the team when the club heads to Arizona for preseason play, according to NHL.com. The report was published Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026.
McKenna's first point came during the team's exhibition schedule. NHL.com's Sept. 23 preseason roundup also covered the night's action around the league.
Context around the young player has been positive. Sportsnet.ca reported in a Maple Leafs notebook that McKenna has been impressing as a quick study. That evaluation points to a fast adjustment to the pro game early in his time with Toronto.
The Maple Leafs have also been busy against the Ottawa Senators in the preseason. The Ottawa Citizen reported that the Senators dropped two decisions to Toronto in exhibition play. A separate preview from silversevensens.com noted that Ottawa split its squad for a game against the Maple Leafs.
Those results and the Arizona trip are part of the larger preseason calendar, which NHL.com is tracking through its daily roundups.
What to watch next: whether McKenna can turn his first point into a longer scoring run as the Maple Leafs continue their preseason schedule in Arizona.
