Former Springbok lock Mark Andrews has predicted a bruising encounter when South Africa face New Zealand in the Rugby Championship, suggesting the series could end in a 2-2 draw, according to News24.

Andrews, who played for the Springboks in the 1990s, made the comment ahead of the two nations' upcoming fixtures. He described the prospect of facing the All Blacks as "brutal," a reflection of the physical intensity expected between the traditional rivals.

The prediction comes as the Springboks prepare for their next assignment in the competition. News24 reports that Andrews believes the balance of power between the two sides is such that neither team is likely to dominate the other across multiple matches.

The All Blacks, under coach Dave Rennie, have been the subject of separate warnings. SA Rugby magazine reported that former Springbok scrumhalf Fourie du Preez has cautioned the Boks about the physical approach Rennie's side will bring to the contest.

Meanwhile, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has acknowledged the challenge ahead, with Planet Rugby reporting that he expects the upcoming Tests to be "very challenging."

The Springboks have already shifted their focus to the All Blacks series, with the squad entering full preparation mode in Johannesburg, according to The Citizen. The team's training base has been set up to handle the demands of what is expected to be a physically taxing set of matches.

With the series looming, the Springboks also face a selection question at flyhalf, with SA Rugby magazine running a poll asking fans to choose their preferred No. 10 for the All Blacks Tests.

The opening match of the series will test both Andrews' prediction and the Springboks' readiness for the physical battle that awaits.
