President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s approval rating has dropped sharply in Mindanao, with disapproval rising in the latest surveys from Pulse Asia and Octa Research, according to a report by MindaNews.
The surveys, conducted in the second quarter of 2026, show a decline in support for Marcos in his home region, MindaNews reported. The Inquirer.net also noted that both Marcos and former President Rodrigo Duterte saw their ratings fall in the same period.
Despite the regional drop, Marcos still holds a majority approval rating nationwide, according to The Manila Times. Philstar.com reported that while both Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte saw their ratings decline, Marcos now leads the vice president in approval. The BusinessMirror similarly reported a decline in support for both leaders.

The Mindanao numbers are notable because the region has historically been a stronghold for the Marcos family. The sharp reversal there could signal shifting political dynamics ahead of the next election cycle.
Analysts will be watching whether this trend continues in the next Pulse Asia and Octa surveys, which are expected in the third quarter.
