Macao's chief executive, Sam Hou Fai, is set to visit Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, according to a report from China's state news agency Xinhua. The trip marks a regional tour aimed at strengthening ties with Southeast Asian partners.
The visit includes a stop in Singapore, which AsiaOne reports is Sam Hou Fai's first official visit to the city-state. While in Singapore, the Macao leader met with the country's Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health, according to the Macao SAR government's official portal. The Macau Business outlet noted that Sam described Singapore's urban renewal model as a reference point for Macau.
Alongside the government delegation, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has organized a travel trade delegation to accompany the trip. The MGTO stated that the purpose is to pursue tourism cooperation with the three countries and to help Macao tap into international markets.

The tour comes as Macao continues to diversify its economy beyond casino gaming, with a growing emphasis on tourism and regional partnerships. The inclusion of a trade delegation suggests that business-to-business connections are a key part of the agenda, not just diplomatic meetings.
Observers will be watching whether the visit produces concrete agreements on tourism promotion or travel facilitation between Macao and the three Southeast Asian nations. Any announcements from the trip could signal how Macao plans to expand its visitor base in the coming years.
