Stuart Lancaster is concentrating on extending his contract with Connacht rather than seeking a return to Leinster, according to RTE.ie. The report, published on Monday, indicates the coach's preference is to remain in the west of Ireland.
Lancaster has been linked with a move back to Leinster, where he previously worked. However, RTE.ie reports that his attention is on securing a new deal with Connacht instead.
The headline from RTE.ie frames the situation as a choice between an extension at his current province and a possible return to his former one. No further details on the length or status of any proposed contract have been reported.
Lancaster's time at Leinster preceded his current role at Connacht. According to RTE.ie, the prospect of going back to Leinster has not shifted his focus away from continuing with Connacht.
The report does not specify any timeline for a decision. It also does not indicate whether formal talks between Lancaster and Connacht have taken place, only that his priority is an extension there.
What to watch next: whether Connacht and Lancaster confirm a new agreement, or whether Leinster re-enters the picture with a formal approach.
