GameGPU reported on Friday that the KytyPS5 emulator ran God of War Sons of Sparta at more than 340 frames per second on an Nvidia RTX 4080. The outlet published the figure on 2 October 2026 as part of its ongoing coverage of PlayStation 5 emulation on PC hardware.

The same reporting round included several other results from the same emulator and from related projects. According to GameGPU, KytyPS5 managed only 3 to 7 FPS with Marvel's Wolverine on an RTX 5060 Ti, a sharp contrast with the Sons of Sparta figure. GameGPU also reported that Astro Bot reached 40 FPS on a Radeon RX 7900 XT under PlayStation 5 emulation.

Beyond KytyPS5, GameGPU covered two other developments. It reported that the PCSX2 emulator ran in native mode on a hacked PlayStation 5 at 60 FPS, and that work on hacking the console has opened a path toward a native RPCS3 emulator.

Taken together, the results point to how uneven PlayStation 5 emulation performance remains. Frame rates vary enormously depending on the title and the GPU in use, and the Wolverine result shows that some games are still far from playable even on current hardware.

What to watch next: whether KytyPS5's performance holds up across more titles, and whether the reported progress on a native RPCS3 build for hacked consoles moves beyond early experiments.
