Building materials group Kingspan is set to acquire BMC Manufacturing, a County Meath-based engineering company that supplies the data centre sector, in a deal that could be worth up to €900 million, according to RTE.ie.

The potential transaction, reported on Wednesday, would see Kingspan pay an initial sum with additional payments possible based on performance, RTE.ie reports. The Irish Times and Irish Independent also confirmed the deal's headline value, with the latter describing it as a purchase of the Irish engineering firm BMC.

BMC Manufacturing, founded in County Meath, has carved out a niche providing components and systems for data centres, a sector that has expanded rapidly in Ireland. The Currency noted that the company's founder could receive a payout of roughly half a billion euros from the sale, underscoring the scale of the windfall for the private firm's owners.

For Kingspan, the acquisition would mark a significant strategic move, adding a specialised supplier to its portfolio. The Business Post framed the deal as one that "ticks all the right boxes" for investors, suggesting it could reset expectations for how the group pursues growth in high-demand infrastructure markets. The deal's potential value of up to €900m makes it one of the larger transactions in the Irish corporate sector this year.

The acquisition remains subject to standard regulatory approvals, and no completion date has been announced. Observers will be watching whether the deal signals further consolidation among suppliers to the data centre industry, which has faced scrutiny over energy use but continues to attract major investment.
