The Postal Corporation of Kenya is being urged to generate income from its assets and reach a point where it can sustain itself, according to Kenya News Agency. The call was reported on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

The push comes as the state-run postal operator has been moving into parcel and e-commerce work. The Star, Kenya reports that Posta signed an agreement with a Chinese company aimed at placing Kenya as a regional e-commerce hub. The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry also announced a partnership between the Postal Corporation and Vnlin intended to strengthen logistics for online trade across the region.

Tuko News reports that the corporation's digital shift, described as its "last-mile delivery" effort, has driven growth of more than 10 percent. That figure points to delivery services, rather than traditional mail, as the area where the operator is gaining ground.

Together, the reports sketch an institution under pressure to pay its own way while repositioning itself around the flow of goods bought online. Monetizing its property and other holdings would give it a source of revenue separate from its day-to-day operations, though the reporting does not set out which assets are involved or what the expected returns might be.

What to watch next is whether the corporation publishes a concrete plan for putting its assets to work, and whether the newly announced partnerships translate into measurable gains.
