Kenyan activist Omtatah has denied reports that he intends to challenge the Linda Mwananchi Movement, describing the claims as misinformation, according to The Star, Kenya. The denial was reported on Saturday, 31 October 2026.
The Star, Kenya reports that the statement pushed back on suggestions he was preparing to contest the movement. The outlet did not detail where the original claims came from or what form any challenge was said to take.
The denial comes as the movement enters a new phase. According to The Star, Kenya, the unveiling of its Lavington headquarters marks a step in Sifuna's effort to present himself as the opposition's joint presidential candidate. The report links the headquarters opening to that broader political positioning.
The Star, Kenya's account does not say whether Omtatah addressed Sifuna's ambitions directly, and no further comment from either figure was included in the reporting.
What to watch next: whether the movement or Sifuna responds to Omtatah's denial, and whether the source of the original claims is identified.
